A way of life

I’m not necessarily a fan of corporate slogans but I endear to one coined years ago by a very large shoe manufacturer. Jus’ do it is that slogan or close enough that I shouldn’t get a nasty email from a corporate copyright lawyer. For me, the slogan exemplifies sticking with the program year after year. The program I’m speaking of is a continuous exercise regimen. I’m not talking crazy routines like Cross-fit and P-90x which will surely burn out just about anyone. I’m talking about 1-2 hours a day three days a week of elevated cardio such as running, biking, swimming, back country skiing, snowshoeing. Leave your car in the driveway whenever you can and walk your kid to school or for that 1/2 mile trip to the store. The more that car sits in the driveway, the better off you will be physically and mentally.

I’ve been building on this philosophy if I dare say, ever since I graduated from college in the late 80’s. I’m far from perfect and do fall slave to convenience. I don’t diet. I do grow a lot of my own vege’s for summer consumption. I could do a lot more in the growing food space but Northwest winters are a bit dark. I don’t abstain from alcohol. I do drink good beer and wine with the occasional bourbon for good measure.
